5th Grade Valentines Coupon Project
This letter went home today:
January 24, 2017
Dear Snoopy Squad Parents (Room 232),
Valentine’s Day is around the corner. Instead of engaging in the traditional exchange of valentines the Fifth Grade team has decided to create compliment books for every student. Over the next weeks the students will be working to write a compliment for everyone of their classmates. Our compliments will be based upon specific actions or traits that have been observed this year. Our goal is to recognize those things that are on the inside that make a person special. The compliments will be specific and avoid superficial statements like “you are nice” or “I like your shirt.”
We will be working on “how to give a compliment” lessons, writing our compliments and putting our books together as our morning work for the next few weeks. Students will receive their compliment books on Valentine’s Day instead of store bought valentines. Some students who arrive on late buses or arrive late in the morning may need to complete some of their compliments at home. Please remember not to bring in any food items to give away. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

From Ms. Bannon and Mr. Peterson:
The Memorial School 4th and 5th graders will have a terrific assembly presented by the Boston Bruins Organization. The assembly will be on Tuesday, January 17th. An expert speaker will present a program on nutritional eating habits and the importance od daily physical activity. The students will be put through a fitness routine during the program. There will be small prizes handed out to the children and photo opportunities. In order for your child to participate in this awesome program, we need the participation waiver and photo release signed and returned by January 10, 2017. Your child will need to wear PE attire and sneakers on January 17th. We look forward to hosting the Boston Bruins.
