We Did Some Coding in Library Today

Snoopy Squad did some coding with Sphero robots and the Lightning Labs app on our I-pads.  Each student on the team took a turn writing the code to make the Sphero robot move, light up a certain color , stop and speak. In the future we may be coding to make the Sphero robot navigate some jumps.

Mystery Skype to Argentina

Memorial's Geography Club had their first Mystery Skype. We got to play Mystery Skype with Ms. Wilner's class in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her students did an excellent job with their English.  After a few quick questions about if we were from Europe, they quickly figured out we were Americans but had a harder time pin-pointing the state. Our team guessed their city and their team guessed our state. Great job by our 4th and 5th graders. (We noticed that their students were all wearing uniforms.)

5th Grade History Scavenger Hunt A Success!!

Amos Doolittle Print 4/19/75                     Old Burial Ground, Concord   5/2/17

5th Grade teams went out in search of the places marked by Amos Doolittle in his famous prints of the American Revolution.  They had studied these prints while learning about the American Revolution and then took photos of the same locations in Lexington and Concord. They met some historians along the way eager to share their accounts of what happened on April 19, 1775 and "The Shot Heard Around the World" Students will be using these photographs to build a Digital Map Project using Google Maps.

On the Lexington Greene hearing from what happened on April 19, 1775 from a member of Capt. Parker's company from Lexington. (Doolittle Print #1)

We met a National Parks Ranger outside Hartwell Tavern on our way down the Battle Road.

We met a gentleman called Edmund Foster who was at this stretch of Battle Road called "The Bloody Angle" who told us what he saw that day on April 19, 1775.
